Happy Home ABC - Au Pair and Babysitting Services

We have made the recruitment process as easy as possible. Have a look at our 7 Step Recruitment Process for all recruitment information. (This is found the the bottom of the Au Pairs and Babysitter page.)

Happy Home ABC's quality guarantee extends for a period of 30 days. Should either party wish to terminate the agreement during this period, Happy Home undertakes to replace the candidate free of charge, given that the placement fee was paid in full within 7 working days of date of invoice.

Should Happy Home ABC not be able to replace the candidate and the termination was not due to retrenchment, unfair dismissal, illness and death, breach of employment contract by the employer, Happy Home ABC will refund the client with the full placement fee within 7 working days.

Should either party wish to terminate the placement after 30 days, Happy Home ABC is not obliged to refund the client or replace the candidate free of charge. No refunds will be made on replacement candidates.

All Au Pairs are required to sign a contract. You can provide your own contract or we can provide you with a basic employment contract.

Babysitters are not required to sign a contract but they are required to sign a confirmation/acceptance of employment document provided by us.

All agency and placement fees must be paid to Happy Home ABC. All Au Pair salaries must be paid directly to the Au Pairs according to the employment contract.

All Babysitter salaries must be paid to Happy Home ABC as babysitters work for more than one family and we keep track of this.



Happy Home ABC - House and Pet Sitters

No, our sitters are not required to sign a contract of employment. However, both the family and sitter are required to sign a instruction form at the meet-and-greet. This confirms that the sitter was provided with specific instructions and duties and he/she is aware of it.

At Happy Home ABC, we try our best to match families with suitable candidates within a 10km radius. A family will only be requested to pay the sitter petrol money when the radius is more than 10km.

Once you have met your sitter and you are happy to go ahead with our service, please let us know as soon as possible and we will proceed with your booking. For all bookings made 30 days before the departure date, we require a 50% deposit before your departure to secure your booking. For all bookings made less than 30 days before the departure date, the full amount must be made before your departure.

Should you cancel the booking 7 days before the time, the full amount will be refunded (less the admin fee). If you cancel the booking in less than 7 days before the time, only 50% of the amount (less the admin fee) will be refunded.

All Happy Home ABC team members commit to a strict code of conduct. We also only select candidates who have good house and pet sitting references.

It is also very important that both you and your sitter sign the instruction form at the meet-and-greet, this ensures that all of your instructions have been carried out.

Should something happen, the sitter knows that he/she will personally be held responsible.

Yes, sitters can be asked to open for the domestic worker or gardener while you are away.

Yes, sitters are always required to clean up after themselves and to clean after your pets.

They will also be required to take out the garbage and water the garden.

Sitters will not be required to do spring-cleaning or other duties like mowing the lawn.

All clients are required to leave an amount of money in case of emergencies like a visit to the vet. It is also highly recommended for all clients to inform their vets that they are going away and that a sitter will be looking after your pets while you are away. This will just give some closure for if the veterinarian bill is more than expected and you can then pay it when you return.

Should your pets need to go to the vet while you are away, your sitter will keep you updated at all times.

We take any negative experiences and complaints very seriously.

All clients are given a time frame for feedback once they have returned. This is also the time to communicate any negative experiences or complaints.

Happy Home ABC will then access the situation and should Happy Home ABCfind that the client has a valid complaint, we will then either give a refund or remove the sitter from Happy Home.



Happy Home ABC - Tutors

Our tutors are required to:

  1. Ensure that learners/students are up to date with current school work
  2. Help learners/students prepare for any tests, exams and assessments
  3. Help learners/students catch up on any missed school work
  4. Provide learners/students with extra activities or assessments
  5. Provide a progress report

At Happy Home ABC we try our best to match families with a tutor within a 10km radius. However, there aren’t always tutors available in this radius and have to travel further to assist families. If your tutor has to travel more than 10km, you will be required to reimburse your tutor at R3.50 per km.

Please let us know as soon as possible and we will find a replacement tutor- free of charge.

Clients are required to pay Happy Home ABC the full amount of lessons required before the tutor can start. Happy Home takes the responsibility of paying the tutor.

We require the full amount in advance to secure your booking.

If you wish to cancel any tutor lessons, we will refund you for services that have not yet been rendered.

No, tutors are not required to sign a contract. However, both parties are required to sign a confirmation of employment provided by Happy Home ABC and both parties will receive a lesson schedule.

Our tutors are required to give their learners/students a bit of homework each day and are required to give extra activities for learners and students to practice.



Happy Home ABC - Drivers

Yes, all permanent and temporary drivers are required to sign a confirmation of employment document provided by Happy Home as well as an employment contract.

You are welcome to provide your own employment contract or Happy Home ABC can provide you with a basic employment contract.

All agency and placement fees must be paid to Happy Home ABC and the driver’s salary must be paid directly to the driver by the client according to the employment contract.

At Happy Home ABC we only select drivers who have a strong driving background, who have great references and who have a valid driver’s licence as well as a roadworthy and safe vehicle.

Our drivers are required to inform you once they arrive at your children’s school and once they have been dropped off at home or wherever they need to be.

Our drivers are also required to enforce full safety measures when transporting your children around.

Yes, all drivers must be reimbursed at R3.50 per km.



Happy Home ABC - Child Buddies

Our Buddies are professional and well trained individuals who can assist your family in those very specific and unique situations and have a passion for children as well as their wellbeing.

Our buddies provide the following services:

  1. Swimming lessons: These buddies are experienced and qualified individuals who provide your children with private and professional, one-on-one swimming lessons at the comfort of your own home.
  2. Music lessons: These buddies are experienced and qualified individuals who provide your children with private and professional, one-on-one musical lessons in the comfort of your own home.
  3. Sport sessions: These buddies are experienced and qualified individuals who provide your children with private and professional, one-on-one sport lessons at the comfort of your own home.
  4. Big brother/sister system: These buddies are responsible individuals that have childcare experience and serve as role models to children. Our big brother/sister buddies are most popular for accompanying children to events or activities when their parents can’t go but would like an adult to take them or accompany them. This could be to a sport event, the movies, a concert etc.
  5. Party entertainment: These buddies are individuals who have an absolute passion for entertaining children and love assisting at birthday parties. Whether you need them to paint faces, do some fun activities or make balloon animals, these buddies are experienced and always eager to come and help out.

Happy Home ABC - General Questions

It is always easiest to follow our 7 Step Recruitment Process (found at the bottom of each respective service page) as this has all the requirements that match the candidate to your family and children. You will only select and employ that candidate your have checked and are totally happy with.

You will notify us promptly and we will immediately start the process to get a replacement. Normally in the selection process, more than one candidate arises, so we will fall back onto this short list first. You will then interview candidates - from this short list - to select the replacement candidate.

No, there is no additional cost at all. Happy Home ABC undertakes to fulfill this obligation to you free of charge.
